Mac OS X on Revo

Postby sjakob » Wed Apr 22, 2009 11:58 am

Hi

Am I the only one who would like to see Mac OS X on a revo? :)

I know it's a little early to be talking about this, but I would like to hear what you have to say on:

1. HD 7.1 sound driver, could that be a problem to get working under osx?

2. Would boxee (or another mac player) be able to play 1080p or du you have to use a special player to use the M9400 hardware?

I hope to hear from a lot of you, also concerning general installation issues and solutions.

That's all for now, over and out.

There are a lot of people that will be interested in adding Mac OS X to the Revo. It is early to find out whether or not it will work but I have no doubt it will work, eventually. :D

Sound drivers have always had issues in Mac OSX but there has always been somebody that has created a fix, as far as the Acer's HD audio--I am not expert with Mac OSX.

Mac OSX has worked with Intel Atom CPU's but I am also interested in whether or not it will work with NVidia's "ION" technology; if their are any hang-ups, etc.

I got my revo today and after having a quick play on Vista I have pulled out the drive and am trying to get OS X running on it. So far it is much harder than getting it working on my MSI Wind U100. I have been able to get OS X to install using the iDeneb 10.5.6 install DVD but when I try to book into OS X it stops at the apple logo. I have tried using -v at the Darwin boot options and have found that it stop at:

"using 9175 buffer headers and 4096 cluster buffer IO headers"

Doing some searching on this error has not brought up a fix.

I will keep playing.

There are a few people having difficulty getting this to work. I wonder if it is because no one is using a recent retail DVD. Everyone is using iDeneb or iPC etc. which were released before any macs had the 9400 right? Therefore none of these installers would have proper drivers. As far as audio goes I think there is already a method that uses linux or something and you must manually type in the model number of the audio chip? I think it was for ALCXXX devices.

Does someone try to install MacOS X 10.5.8 recently?

What is the best Bittorrent program for Mac OS X? I've tried Transmission and it is just not cutting the fast speed (i made a lot of adjustments to bandwidth and NAT settings). Any suggestions for a new torrent program for Mac OS X that gets amazing speed?
