Pricing, Release Details and Specs
While there is not yet official news about Acer's release date in the U.S, there has been a lot of talk about the release date in the U.K. First it was Play.com which said May 15th and now Pocket-Lint has released some details that the AspireRevo will reach shops May 5th.
Acer told Pocket-Link that the base package would have a Linux (Ubuntu) version with 1GB of RAM and 8GB solid-state-drive for £149.99, equivalent to $220 U.S dollars. Windows Vista will be packaged with 2GB of RAM and a 160GB Hard Drive and will go for £249.99, $367 U.S dollars.

Another model option for £299.99 will include the VESTA mount to attach the Revo to the back of a monitor as well as a wireless gaming pad that resembles the Wii Remote. The remote will available on its own for £49.99.
The May 5th date is currently the release date for the UK. There is not yet an official date for the U.S release but I'm sure its this coming month!

The Vista 160Gig /2 Gig Ram Version is already available in Germany via the T-Online Shop (not only for preorder, they have it in stock), so all of you who live in the EU and don’t want to wait until it is released in your country could buy it this way.

Dack001, thanks for sharing that! That is amazing that its “in stock”. Know of anyone that has ordered one via the site?

Actually, several people already have one from the shop (some of the computerbase.de board and one of the guys from eee-pc.de) and i might buy one for myself this week (still pondering wether it is worth to wait for the medium modell which would cost 34€ more but has Draft N W-Lan and a bigger HDD).
Sadly, i don’t know of any foreigners who have bought in the shop.

Does anybody know what the power consumption is of the AspireRevo?

Any word on when/if this will be released in the US? Powercord issues aside, I may see if I can get one shipped from amazon.co.uk.

I’ve just taken delivery of the Linux version and Ubuntu Linux is strangely lacking. What it does have is a very crude boot environment in which you can run a simple web browser and a couple of other trivial applications, and then a button called “Start OS” or something like that, but that’s disabled. There are then tools to help you install Windows but that’s it.
The boot environment may well be Linux based, but to claim it comes with Ubuntu Linux is being more than a little economical with the truth.

Still no release date in US…

When will the Revo be sold in the USA? Bring it on. This will make a great MythTV frontend.

Why is there still no release date in the U.S.? It’s kind of retarded. Acer hasn’t said anything about it at all and I called Acer and their employees haven’t even heard of it.
??

For US orders (also Canadian site, but not on special)
What I would like to know is what the remote functionality is? Do it power on and off the unit ? It looks a little odd.
